HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The George Mason University men's tennis team proved dominant from start to finish in a 7-0 triumph over Georgetown (Ky.) on Monday morning in the team's first official match of the PTR Springfest.
The Patriots had to postpone the conclusion of their Sunday match vs. St. Francis (Pa.), so Monday's win over the Tigers put the first win in the books for the Green & Gold. That match vs. the Red Flashes will resume play on Friday.
"Today was a great opportunity to get the younger guys some more experience and they stepped up in singles and played some good tennis," head coach Jimmy Davis said. "We had great energy today and battled through some tough conditions as we get used to outdoor tennis again. We're making good improvements and feel ready for our league match vs. Saint Louis on Wednesday."
