FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team begins a spring season of promise this weekend when the Patriots begin dual play with a two-match road trip.

The season kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m. when Mason battles Mary Washington in Fredericksburg.

The Patriots then head to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Live video and in-match results are available via hokiesports.com.

George Mason is coming off a fall tournament season in which a flurry of young talent experienced early success in a Patriot uniform.

Freshman Monil Lotlikar put together a 9-6 singles record, which including a flight title at the Joe Hunt Invitational. He also became the first player in program history to win two matches at the ITA All-American Championships.

Fellow freshman Alvaro Pedraza tallied a 9-3 singles mark, while sophomore Niza Simunyola tallied a team-best 11-3 mark. Simunyola also partnered with freshman Zavan Fahim to post a team-best 6-4 mark in doubles. Fahim went 7-6 in fall singles.

In addition to the young talent on the roster, the Patriots also welcome back a strong contingent of student-athletes with a wealth of dual experience. Two-time All-A-10 selection Rishab Sardana returns to the lineup for his graduate campaign, while his brother, senior Rithik Sardana, also will compete. A 2021 All-A-10 selection, Rithik went a team-best 9-7 in dual singles last season, primarily at the No. 2 position.

Senior Momin Khan, who provided stalwart consistency at the No. 3 position last season, returns in 2022-23, along with fellow senior Herman Jentoft, who won four dual matches and went 2-0 at No. 6.

Junior Hayden Postin went 6-5 in fall action in 2022 and will look to bolster the Patriot lineup this spring, alongside sophomore Dustin Ha, who tallies a 6-6 mark in the fall.
