FAIRFAX, Va. – The Patriots picked up their second win in three games against the King University Tornado, 3-0 in tonight's match at the RAC.
From start to finish, the Patriots were in control of the match. They dominated at the net and in the service game.
Georgi Zahariev was a big part of that. After the Tornado tied it at 6-6 in the first, Zahariev smashed a kill and then landed three aces in the next five points. This helped build a big lead that would hold with the first ending 25-15.
The second would be more of the same. The Patriots jumped out to an 8-2 lead thanks to a 5-0 run that was boosted by back-to-back kills by
Chey Cooper and an ace by
Jack Bolz.
After creating a bigger margin at 11-3, the Patriots would control the rest of the set keeping the Tornado away by at least six (25-16).
The Tornado provided some resistance in the third, with the score tied at 10. Then, the Patriots rattled off a 7-0 run, their biggest of year. They would win comfortably 25-15.
"I was happy with our consistent level of execution tonight," said Coach Hosack. "We worked hard the last couple of weeks, and it showed."
