Fairfax, Va.— The Rider Broncs defeated the George Mason wrestling team, 27-9, in a matinee held in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

The Patriots finish the regular season 11-8 overall, 3-4 in the MAC. The 11 wins for the Green and Gold are the most wins in a season since the 2007-08 season when the Patriots finished with a 13-5 record. The Rider Broncs move to 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the MAC. 

With two of its four ranked wrestler's at 141 and 149, Rider won the first four matches to take a 17-0 lead.

Mason countered with back-to-back decisions from grad student Peter Pappas (157) and Drew Dickson (165) to cut the lead to 17-6. Pappas edged MacKenie Bell, 3-2, and Dickson won 8-5. Pappas improved to 19-3 while Dickson goes to 15-14 on the season.

The following match looked like it may go to Sudden Victory but with a few seconds remaining Rider's Michael Wilson broke the 1-1 tie with a takedown to win 3-1 against Mason's Logan Messer (197). It was only the sixth loss on the season for the sophomore who is 23-6 on the year.

The Patriots Malachi DuVall would earn the final three points with an 8-6 decision against the Broncs Isaac Dean. DuVall was in control from the start never trailing the match. He improves to 19-8.
