Fairfax, Va.— The George Mason wrestling team will travel to New Jersey for it final match of the regular season against MAC-leader Rider on Friday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.  

The Patriots are 11-7 overall, 3-3 in the MAC. Mason lost its most recent match to Lock Haven, but had positive results from four wrestlers. Sophomore Logan Messer won his 50th career match for the Patriots, his 23rd this season with a decision against the Bald Eagles Tyler Stolzfus at 174. 

Sophomore Malachi Duvall earned his sixth fall of the season against Lock Haven's Colin Fegley in the first period (1:13).

Jon List (18-16) and Anthony Glasl (15-2) earned decisions against the Bald Eagles.

The Rider Broncs defeated MAC leader Clarion, 25-12, to move to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the MAC. Rider has four ranked wrestlers; #29 McKenzie Bell (141), #22 Quinn Kinner (149), #5 Ethan Laird (197), and David Szuba (285).

Rider has been dominate in the series with the Patriots, holding an 19-1 all-time series record. The Broncs have won 13 straight matches against the Patriots. Mason's last won 25-17 on Jan. 18, 2008.

• The Green and Gold (11-7, 2-3) won its 11th match of the season against LIU, surpassing the most wins in a season since the 2007-08 season when the Patriots finished with a 13-5 record. The Patriots have had three 9-win seasons in the past four years (*Only four matches in 2020-21).
• Markel Baker (125) leads the team in wins with 25 wins and tech falls with four. The freshman is ranked second in the MAC.
• Logan Messer is second with 23 wins this season and he has 50 career wins for the Patriots. He is ranked 4th in the MAC
• Nathan Higley leads Mason with six pins. 
• Pappas is ranked 4th in the MAC. The grad student returned to the mat after almost a month out last weekend at Edinboro. He owns a 18-3 overall record.
