NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Mason student-athlete
Haley Taormina has been named the Atlantic 10's Player of the Week,
the conference announced Tuesday.
In her first three starts of the season, senior
Haley Taormina went 6-for-12 (.500 BA), including two doubles and a
walk-off triple. She currently leads Mason in RBI (3). She also leads in average (.500), OPS (1.333), slugging (.833), and total bags (10).
For fielding, the Chesapeake, Va., native currently has a 1.000 fielding percentage, with six putouts, three assists and no errors.
This is Taormina's first award of the season and second of her career.
Taormina and the Patriots will be back in action this weekend, as they travel to Spartanburg, S.C., where USC Upstate will host the Spartan Classic. Along with Spartans, the Patriots will face off against University of Maryland Eastern Shore, South Carolina State and Holy Cross. First pitch will be at 11 A.M. on Friday, February 17.
