FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason hits I-66 East to renew the Revolutionary Rivalry with George Washington Wednesday night in Foggy Bottom.
Tip-off between the Patriots and Colonials is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday's game will be televised on NBC Sports Washington and broadcast on ESPN+. In addition, Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
• The Patriots are coming off a 75-67 triumph over Rhode Island Saturday afternoon inside EagleBank Arena. Mason held the Rams to just 37.5 percent shooting in the second half and made 52 percent of its own attempts for the game.
• Mason is now 8-1 when shooting 50 percent or better from the field this season and 7-1 when holding its foe under 40 percent.
•
Josh Oduro led Mason with a season-best 27 points on an absurdly efficient 12-of-14 shooting night (.857). He also grabbed six rebounds in the win. The senior just missed the school record for FG percentage for a player with at least 10 attempts. Carlos Yates went 12-of-13 vs. UNC Charlotte on Dec. 4, 1982.
• Oduro, a 2022 First Team All-A-10 selection, leads the league with 9.7 rebounds/contest in conference play, is fifth in scoring (17.8 ppg) and fifth in field goal percentage (.591). Oduro also paces the league in offensive boards/contest in A-10 play (3.54).
• After missing 10 consecutive games with a hand injury, senior guard
Davonte Gaines has provided a critical boost for the Patriots over the past two contests. He notched 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Saturday's win.
• Junior
Ronald Polite III dished out a game-high nine assists and added 15 points (6-11 FG) vs. URI. He has tallied 8+ assists in three games this season and ranks 10th in the A-10 in assists/game (3.9).
• Mason has excelled on the defensive glass this season. The Patriots rank 47th nationally in defensive boards/game (26.85). The Green & Gold allow an offensive rebound on just 25.2 percent of opponent possessions (48th nationally).
• Oduro is just the fourth player in school history with 1,200 career points, 600 rebounds, 100 blocks and 100 assists. His 1,255 points rank 23rd on the all-time Mason scoring list.
• In true road games, Oduro leads the Patriots with 15.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. Polite III is at 10.7 points/game.
HISTORY vs. GEORGE WASHINGTON
Wednesday's game marks the 33rd all-time meeting in the Revolutionary Rivalry. George Mason and George Washington are separated by just 20 miles and are situated on the same DC Metro line (Orange).
