FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach Tony Skinn ('06) announced Wednesday that Justin Begg has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Patriots, beginning in 2024-25.
A 5-foot-11-inch, 3-star guard from Houston, Begg competes for Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas under head coach Wayne Jones.
247Sports.com ranks him as the No. 28 point guard in the Class of 2024.
"My goal with our program is to bring in freshmen who can compete for A-10 All-Rookie spots," Skinn said. "Justin has that potential. He was recruited at a very high level and we're very happy he chose to join our program. He will be a key piece of what we're building here in Fairfax."
A two-time Southwest Preparatory Conference Most Valuable Player at Episcopal, Begg also is a two-time All-SPC First Team selection. He helped lead the Knights to a 2022 state championship title and earned first-team private school honors in the process.
Heading into his senior season, Begg was selected to the 2023-24 All-Greater Houston Area Preseason First Team.
"Justin is a dynamic point guard," Skinn added. "He can really shoot it and he's jet quick. He has a high basketball IQ and is extremely competitive. As a coach's son, he has all the intangibles we look for in a floor leader."
Begg competes for Houston Hoops on the Nike EYBL circuit, where he has starred alongside Tre Johnson, a top-5 prospect in the Class of 2024. While suiting up for Houston Hoops this summer, Begg earned All-Peach Jam honors and was named to the Nike EYBL All-Breakout Team.
