CHARLESTON, S.C. – The George Mason Wrestling opens the 2023-24 season at the annual Battle of the Citadel, an all-day affair slated for Sunday, Nov. 5 at McAlister Field House, first match start set for 9 am.
Five programs will descend upon Charleston for The Battle at The Citadel, including Indiana, Drexel, George Mason, American and Appalachian State.
The Patriots will send 23 wrestlers to South Carolina for the tournament. Mason will have three wrestlers in five weight classes, 125, 133, 141, 157, and 285.
Brandon Wittenberg is currently ranked top 33 nationally on Intermat at 133 pounds.
Two wrestlers will represent the Patriots at 149-pounds, led by
Kaden Cassidy. The redshirt sophomore was a MAC place winner during the 2021-22 season.
Malachi DuVall, ranked preseason third in the MAC, is the lone Patriot at 184 pounds.
Tyler Kocak will wrestle at 197.
