NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior middle
Camille Larkin has been named to the Atlantic 10 Second Team on Thursday, as announced by the league office.
All-Conference First, Second and Rookie Teams are voted on by the conference coaches at the end of the regular season, while the All-Academic Team is voted on by conference SIDs.
Larkin becomes the first Patriot to be named to the Atlantic 10 First or Second Team since the 2018 season when Bailey Williams was also named to the Second Team. Larkin's honor also marks the third-straight season that George Mason has placed an athlete on a post-season all-conference team, with classmate
Olyvia Kennedy earning All-Rookie honors in 2021 and sophomore
Gabriella Gelfound earning the same honor in 2022.
Larkin consistently led not only the Patriots on offense this season, but also the Atlantic 10. She finished the regular season with the top hitting percentage among all players in the conference, finishing with an incredible .391 clip over 30 games, including a .426 against conference opponents. Her .391 is not only a personal best, but it also marks the fifth-best single-season hitting percentage in George Mason women's volleyball history, and the best since 1996 when Virag Domokos finished the season at .392.
The middle blocker set career-highs in almost every statistical category in 2023, both single season and single match. This season, she bested her previous career-high of eight kills 11 times, posting double-figures four times and setting a new personal best of 14 kills against Duquesne on the road. Larkin also posted at least one kill in every match this season.
Defensively, Larkin was second on the team with a personal-best 77.0 total blocks on the year, adding a career-high seven against UAlbany. Larkin also ranked second on the team in service aces, tallying 23 on the year. She set a career-high of five against Georgetown and tallied five games with multiple aces. She also notched a career-best 47 digs, including a career-high five twice in 2023.
