FAIRFAX, VA. – George Mason women's basketball freshman
Kennedy Harris was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The freshman out of Hampton, Va. shined for the Patriots (3-0) in their opening week, helping the team to their best start in 23 years.
In her first collegiate game against Bowie State, Harris dropped 15 points on 4-7 shooting, including three made three-pointers and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She also dished out three assists and, pulled down four rebounds and grabbed two steals.
After a solid six-point, four rebound day against Marshall on Thursday, she matched her career-best of 15 points on the road at William & Mary on Sunday. She went 6-10 from the field, connecting on 3-4 three-point attempts.
Overall, Harris averaged 12.0 points per game, going 54.2% from the field, 50.0% from three-point range and 100.0% from the free-throw line. She also averaged 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game in the three-game week.
The Patriots are back in action on Wednesday at home when they host Pittsburgh in EagleBank Arena at 4 p.m.
