DAYTON, Ohio – The George Mason women's volleyball team fell in three sets on Friday to the nationally-ranked Dayton Flyers.
Junior
Ewelina Gacek led the Patriots (6-12, 2-4) on both sides of the ball, tallying six kills and nine digs while adding a service ace throughout the match.
The two teams traded points to open set one and a kill by
Gabriella Gelfound tied the set at three all. The Flyers (17-2, 6-0) when on two short runs to pull ahead by six, but two points by Gacek cut the lead back to four, 15-11. However, Dayton was able to hold off Mason with another 4-0 run to close the set at 25-15.
Mason and Dayton traded points to start the second, but two 4-0 runs put the Flyers ahead by nine, 18-9. The outside duo pair of
Nani Spaar and Gacek tallied multiple kills during the set, but several hitting errors by the Patriots down the stretch led to another UD set victory.
Dayton jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but three-straight kills from three different Patriots tied the set at three-all. However, two 5-0 runs put the Flyers ahead 13-4 and force a Mason timeout. Gacek and
Camille Larkin combined for six kills, including three down the stretch, but several Dayton aces throughout the set helped the Flyers to the sweep.

- Camille Larkin matched the team-high of six kills with just one error for a team-best .357 hitting percentage
- Haley Graetz led the Patriots in blocking with two block assists
