Fairfax- Omar Hoyos has once again been called up to the Puerto Rican National Team to participate in the Pan American games hosted by Chile. Omar Hoyos has consistently been called up to the national team, his last participation was September 9th for the NORCECA Tournament. 

During the NORCECA Tournament, Puerto Rico was placed in a group with USA, Cuba, and Suriname. Puerto Rico made it out the group to face the Dominican Republic for the quarter finals where the journey for the championship ended, losing the game 3 sets to none. Omar Hoyos still had the opportunity to help Puerto Rico reach the fifth place spot but they would have to defeat Mexico. Mexico did win the game leaving Puerto Rico with the 6 place spot. 

Because of his strong performances and his experience, Omar Hoyos is once again called up to the biggest event held by the Americas. Omar has already participated in the U23 stage of the Pan American games, but now he has the opportunity to showcase his skills at the senior level. Puerto Rico has been placed in a group with Argentina, Dominican Republic, and the hosts, Chile. Argentina are difficult opponents to face in volleyball, Argentina being a top team in the Americas. Chile is hosting the Pan American games and their support will be present during their game against Omar. Puerto Rico will also have their revenge against the Dominican Republic after getting knocked out by them in the NORCECA Tournament. In the other group there are other powerhouses; Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and Colombia. 

Game Schedule:

October 30th at 4:30pm against Argentina
October 31st at 7:30 against Chile
November 1st at 4:30 pm against Dominican Republic
