RADFORD, Va. – George Mason graduate student midfielder Luis Maestre and sophomore midfielder Nicholas Prioli each scored two goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Patriots to a 7-0 shutout over Radford on Tuesday night at Cupp Stadium in Radford, Va.

The Patriots are unbeaten in their last four matches (3-0-1) and have outscored their opponents by a combined 13-3.

It's the 22nd time in program history that the Patriots have scored seven or more goals in a match.  Mason scored at least seven goals in a road match for the first time in 36 years, when the Patriots won at East Carolina 7-1 on Sept. 12, 1987.

The 7-0 win at Radford on Tuesday night was just the fourth time in school history that the Patriots have scored seven or more goals in a match on the road (8-0 win at VMI Sept. 7, 1983 / 7-1 win at Georgetown Oct. 16, 1985 / 7-1 win @ ECU Sept. 12, 1987).

Mason (4-5-3, 2-3-1 A-10) scored four goals in the first half and three more in the second half against Radford (1-10-2, 1-3-0 Big South).

Maestre gave the Patriots an early lead with the eventual game-winner in the 14th minute of play.

Sophomore midfielder Asparuh Slavov sent the ball ahead on the right side to Prioli, who then played a perfect cross into the six-yard box to Maestre, who scored into the center of the net with a jumping shot with the left foot to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.

In the 24th minute, freshman midfielder James Eliuda split three defenders and blasted a shot over the charging Highlanders goalkeeper to tally his first collegiate goal from 15 yards out into the left corner of the net to make it 2-0.

Maestre began the play with a touch from just over the midfield line to Prioli, who sent the ball ahead with an accurate chip to Eliuda.

Prioli struck again in the 31st minute.  Slavov started the play with a great pass from 30 yards out up the right side to junior forward Souley Diouf, who stopped the ball on the end line with some fabulous footwork and played it in front of the Radford net.

The rebound found the right foot of Prioli who made no mistake on the follow-up with a chip over the fallen goalkeeper from six yards out to extend the lead to 3-0.

In the 37th minute, the Highlanders committed a foul inside the penalty area.  Maestre calmly put the shot with the right foot into the lower left corner for his second goal of the contest to pad the advantage to 4-0.

Early in the second half, Prioli tallied his second goal of the match with a shot from 10 yards out into the upper right corner to make the score 5-0.  Freshman midfielder Brent Fields started the play with a pass from the right side into the penalty area, where Maestre played it to Prioli for the finish.

The Patriots were awarded their second penalty kick of the match in the 62nd minute.  Freshman forward Davis Crittenden converted for his second goal of the season to expand the Patriots lead to 6-0.

In the 83rd minute, Fields set up freshman Abdul Kamara for his second goal of the season for the final strike of the match in the 7-0 Mason victory.

Mason junior goalkeeper Jaume Salvado (4-5-3, 2-3-1 A-10) made two saves to record his fourth clean sheet of the season.
