FAIRFAX, Va. – The Patriots fell in hard fought match to the #2 UCLA Bruins 3-0 at the RAC Tuesday evening.
Although playing against a tough opponent, the Patriots never gave up and continued to battle point after point.
Eamonn Testerman earned his first start tonight, tallying a kill, two digs and two block assists. Some other highlights include
Omar Hoyos, who led the team in kills (9) and block assists (4).
Paul Wyszynski led the team in digs (6).
In the first, the Bruins started out with a 3-0 lead, but the Patriots swarmed back and after back to back blocks led 7-6. Unfortunately, the Bruins took nine out of the next 10 points and put the set out of reach (25-15).
The second set went back forth with three Patriots recording three kills each (Bolz, French and Hoyos).
Jack Bolz smashed a kill to take the lead at 13-12, but another long 5-0 run by the Bruins would be too much to come back from (25-21).
The Patriots refused to give up in the third and kept it close trailing 17-19. Two service errors by Mason and an ace from the Bruins would end the match 25-19.
