BALTIMORE, Md. – The George Mason women's swimming and diving team defeated UMBC, 204-94, while the men's team fell to the Retrievers, 173-127, on Saturday at the UMBC Aquatic Center.
The Mason women's team won 12 events on the way to the victory.

Ali Tyler and freshman
Peyton Brehmer won the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.90). The group of sophomores
Shannon Judge,
Anka Whelan and
Emma DeJong along with freshman
Angelina Zeidan took third (1:49.40).
Tyler touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.65), while senior
Emily Lewantowicz was third (2:01.77) and Brehmer fourth (2:02.84) in the event.
Tyler also won the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.44), with Riley in second (5:22.37).
Whelan won both the 100-yard backstroke (58.16) and 200-yard backstroke (2:04.15), and the 200-yard IM (2:09.40).
DeJong won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.79), with freshman
Ainsley Toews fourth in the event (1:09.66).
Clabeaux took first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.90) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.53).
Graduate student
Madison Nalls took the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:37.25), with sophomore
Kylie Thompson third (11:05.13) and freshman
Anna Beth Blankenship fourth (11:06.54).
Nalls also won the 100-yard freetstyle (53.12), with DeJong second (53.78).
The Patriots went one-two in the 200-yard butterfly, with junior
Abigail Murtaugh first (2:09.94) and Riley second (2:10.89).
The combination of Tyler, Clabeaux, Nalls and DeJong won the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:32.92). The group of Brehmer, Judge, Riley and Lewantowicz placed second in the event (3:37.14).
Sophomore
Emma McDonald won the three-meter diving event (224.18 points) and freshman
Maddie Hersh placed fourth (161.18 points). McDonald also took the top spot in the one-meter (208.05 points), with Hersh fourth (176.18 points).
On the men's side, the Patriots won five events.
Mason took the top three spots in the 1000-yard freestyle, with senior
Jackson Knouse first (9:56.63), freshman
Max Fermayer second (10:06.87) and junior
Graham Boyle third (10:10.84).
Freshman
Tate Anderson won both the 100-yard backstroke (50.78) and 200-yard backstroke (1:50.41).
The Patriots went one-two in the 50-yard freestyle, with sophomore
Zane Roberts first (21.46) and sophomore
Logan Skiles second (21.50).
Mason took the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle, with Fermayer first (4:49.88), Knouse second (4:54.05) and freshman
Matt Quackenbush third (4:55.03).

Sammy Lucht, sophomore
Alexander Franklin and Roberts placed third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:35.95).
Junior
Ian Castegnaro placed second in the one-meter diving event (244.35 points) and classmate
Indigo Flynch was third (237.53 points). In the one-meter, Castegnaro was third (237.75 points) and Flynch fourth (210.30 points).
The Patriots are back in action against Old Dominion on Saturday, Jan. 28, with the meet scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Norfolk, Va.
