DAVIDSON, N.C. – The George Mason men's soccer team dropped its first Atlantic 10 Conference road match of the season at Davidson, 2-0, on Saturday night at Alumni Soccer Stadium in Davidson, N.C.
Mason (2-5-0, 1-1-0 A-10) fell behind Davidson (3-5-1, 1-1-0 A-10) in the 38th minute of play when freshman forward Denis Krioutchenkov scored his fourth goal of the season into the lower right corner to put the Wildcats in front, 1-0.
In a defensive first half, Davidson recorded the only two shots on goal.Â
The Wildcats created their first chance of the match in the 25th minute, but Mason senior goalkeeper
Jake Langley was able to reach up with his left hand and make a spectacular save, deflecting the shot off the crossbar and over the net.
The Patriots had their best scoring chance of the first half in the final minute of play. Â
Freshman forward
Zach Eichelberger raced down the left side and cut toward the net inside the penalty area before sending a great touch to sophomore forward
Balint Kocso, who sailed a shot just over the upper right corner of the net.
In the 60th minute, Kosco had the Patriots best chance in the second half as well, rising up for a header but Davidson junior goalkeeper Lou Liedtka made the save to preserve the lead.
In the 78th minute, Davidson sophomore midfielder Blake Peterson tallied his first collegiate goal with a header to increase the advantage to 2-0.
Langley (2-5-0, 1-1-0 A-10) made three saves, while Liedtka made four saves in the match for the shutout.

The Wildcats outshot the Patriots, 11-9, including a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Davidson finished with six corner kicks, while Mason had one corner kick in the match.
