SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.- The George Mason women's volleyball team dropped their opening match of the Seton Hall invitational to the host Pirates on Friday night.
After a 25-13 loss in the opening set, the Patriots (1-3) put pressure on Seton Hall (3-1), battling to the very end of sets two and three, ultimately losing both 25-23.
The Green & Gold pressed to force set four, as set three featured four lead changes and 12 tie scores. Down two, the Patriots tied the game at 23, but a Mason attack error and a kill by Seton Hall secured the sweep for the Pirates.

Katelyn Clarke, who totaled a season-high seven kills to go along with four digs and a block assist.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Sophomore Ewelina Gacek hit at a team-high clip of .176 for five kills.
- The Pirates won the battle at the net, hitting at a .224 to Mason's .023 and out-blocking the Patriots 8-5.
- Freshman Gabriella Gelfound led the Patriots in assists with a game high 18. She also added four kills, two block assists and a service ace to her stat line.
- Freshman Rachel Larsen led the Patriots defensively with 10 digs.
George Mason will look to get back in the win column on Saturday morning for a 10 a.m. opening serve against Iona to kick off Day 2 of the Seton Hall Invitational. The game will not be live streamed, but fans can follow live stats
