Princeton opened the scoring early with a corner kick goal in the second minute by their leading scorer Heather MacNabb. Mason would level the game in the 20th minute with Shea Carroll's first goal of the season. The junior forward was set up by freshman midfielder Rachel Eberly's pass that dropped behind the Tiger defense. Carroll was able to settle the ball, take one dribble and slot her shot aimed for the lower left corner of the goal.

The Princeton offense would strike once more in the half, scoring in the 30th minute by way of a Lexi Hiltunen goal.

The Patriot defense was able to keep the Tigers at bay for most of the second half. However, Princeton's constant offensive pressure would lead to two more goals towards the end of the game  one by a Lily Bryant penalty kick and a Pietra Tordin shot from 15 yards out.

Head coach Manya Puppione was optimistic about her team's performance and that they can build off of what they learned this afternoon.

"I am proud of my team in how we showed up today against a well organized and dynamic Princeton team," said head coach Puppione, "The things that we have been focusing on showed up on both sides of the ball."

UP NEXT
Mason begins A-10 Conference action this Thursday, September 15 as they face off against George Washington. Coach Puppione says that what the team has learned from their non-conference games will help them plan ahead against A-10 teams.

"Reflecting on our non-conference part of the season, we have a better idea of who we are and how we can play. The focus is now on conference play and making it to the conference tournament."

Kickoff against George Washington is set for 3 p.m. at GW Soccer Field.
