RADFORD, Va. – The George Mason University women's soccer team (0-1) conclude their season-opening road trip Sunday, August 21, as they travel to face Radford (0-1).
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cupp Stadium in Radford, Va. The game can be followed via Live Stat.
LAST TIME OUT
The Green and Gold hope to bounce back from last game's 3-1 loss against No. 4 Virginia this past Thursday in Charlottesville.
After conceding goals late in the first half and early in the second half, the Patriots found themselves in a two-goal deficit with 30 minutes left in the game. Freshman Josie Stockett brought the Patriots back within one after scoring a goal in the 72' minute. The Mason rally would be stifled, however, after Virginia scored their third and final goal in the dying minutes of the game.
SCOUTING RADFORD
The Highlanders will also be playing their second game of the season on Sunday. They opened their 2022 campaign with a 2-1 loss against Concord. Radford's lone goal was scored by junior midfielder Skyler Prosser, assisted by sophomore midfielder/forward Kat Parris.
Radford's 2021 season saw them finish at an overall record of 13-5-1, with a 6-3-1 record in the Big South Conference. The Conference's Preseason Poll selected the Highlanders to finish third this season, their fourteenth consecutive season where they are predicted to finish within the top-five of their ten-member conference.
Highlander sophomore Kat Parris is coming off an impressive freshman season, where the forward scored 13 goals and made nine assists totaling 35 points, leading her team in all three stat categories. She was awarded Rookie of the Year and was chosen First-Team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).
HISTORY WITH THE HIGHLANDERS
Mason dominates the series with Radford, leading with a commanding 11-3-1 record. The last time these two teams matched up against each other was last season, where the Patriots came from behind and scored two unanswered goals to win in overtime 2-1 at George Mason Stadium.
