FAIRFAX, Va. – The Patriots won their third straight game with an 8-6 victory over Towson in the final home midweek game of the season on Tuesday at Spuhler Field.
Mason (17-26, 8-7 A-10) took the lead over Towson (10-34, 1-14 CAA) in the first inning against Tigers junior starter Teddy Blumenauer.

Brett Stallings led off with a walk and scored when freshman shortstop
Carsen Pracht doubled to left to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.
Mason has scored the first run in 11 of the last 15 games and plated a run in the first inning in six of the last seven.
The Patriots doubled the lead in the bottom of the second against Towson sophomore reliever Luis Rivera.
Freshman designated hitter Conner Dykstra led off with his team-leading sixth home run of the season, a blast over the left field fence to make it 2-0.
While the offense built the lead, sophomore
Stephen Restuccio didn't allow a run in his first start with the Patriots.
With one out in the home half of the third, junior first baseman
South Trimble doubled to left and graduate student third baseman
Danny Hosley walked. With two outs, graduate student left fielder
Kamron Smith drew a walk to load the bases.
After the Tigers summoned graduate student reliever Jake Pecilunas from the bullpen, Dykstra was hit by a pitch to force in a run to increase the lead to 3-0.
Towson scored a two-out run in the fourth. Sophomore shortstop Danny Becerra doubled and when senior centerfielder Chandler Castleberry singled to third, Becerra scored on a throwing error to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Tigers made it a one-run game in the top of the fifth. Junior right fielder James Moses drew a two-out walk and scored on a double by junior left fielder Elijah Dickerson.
Mason responded in the bottom of the inning against Towson sophomore reliever Justin Rebok. Hosley and freshman right fielder
Brett Ahalt both singled to put runners on first and second. Smith then ripped a single to center, with Hosley racing home to make the score 4-2.
With one out, freshman catcher
Tyler Cotten drove in a run with a single through the left side off Tigers freshman reliever Brett Seils to extend the lead to 5-2.
Towson pulled to within a run in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with a single and a pair of walks against Mason freshman reliever
Britt Yount. Dickerson forced in a run with a walk and senior first baseman Jack McLaughlin plated a run with a sacrifice fly to trim the Patriots lead to 5-4.
The Patriots answered in the bottom of the inning against Towson senior reliever Nolan Bolt. With one out, Dykstra singled and stole second and freshman center fielder
Alex Knapp smashed a two-out double to the wall in left to pad the lead to 6-4.
Stallings and Pracht followed with back-to-back RBI-singles to plate two important insurance runs to put the Mason lead at four, 8-4.
The Tigers made it interesting in the top of the ninth when McLaughlin hit a two-run home run, but Patriots senior reliever
Mason Posey stuck out the next batter to end the game.
For the Patriots, Restuccio (1-0) tossed 2.2 scoreless innings to earn his first win as a Patriot. Senior
Matthew Henson gave up two runs, one earned, on four hits in 2.1 innings. Yount was charged with two runs on one hit in 1.1 innings, senior
Hugh O'Hara faced four batters in the seventh, and Posey allowed two runs on three hits in 2.0 innings.
Towson used eight pitchers in the game. Blumenauer (0-5) allowed one run on one hit and didn't retire a batter in the outing. Rivera allowed two runs on three hits in 1.2 innings, Rebok gave up two runs on three hits and retired two batters, and Bolt surrendered three runs on four hits in one inning of work.
Dykstra went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored, Pracht was 3-for-5 with two RBI, Hosley went 3-for-4 with a run scored, Stallings finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored and Knapp posted a 2-for-3 day with one RBI and one run scored.
Every player in the Mason lineup had at least one hit in the game.
The Patriots are back in action on Wednesday at Mount St. Mary's, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Straw Family Stadium in Emmitsburg, Md.
