FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team fell to VCU, 15-5, in the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon at Spuhler Field.

The Rams took two of the three games in the first Atlantic 10 series of the season for both clubs.

Freshman shortstop Carsen Pracht hit his first collegiate home run, a two-run blast in the sixth inning.

Mason (9-17, 1-2 A-10) fell behind in the first inning when VCU (15-11, 2-1 A-10) scored an unearned run against Patriots senior starter Mason Posey.

Junior right fielder Logan Amiss reached on a fielder's choice and went to second on a throwing error.  Sophomore third baseman Tyler Locklear followed with a single to put runners on first and third.  With two outs, sophomore designated hitter Will Carlone reached on the second error of the inning, with Amiss crossing the plate to put the Rams in front, 1-0.

In the top of the second, sophomore second baseman Ben Nippolt led off with a double, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by graduate student catcher Jacob Selden to make it 2-0.

With two on and no outs in the top of the third, Mason freshman Dylan Crowley took over on the mound.

The Rams scored three runs on three hits in the inning to extend the advantage to 5-0.

VCU sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the fourth and added three unearned runs on three hits, and took advantage of two errors to make the score 8-0.

VCU sophomore starter Campbell Ellis tossed four scoreless innings before turning the game over the bullpen.

The Rams sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the sixth against Mason relievers Diego Barrett and Matthew Henson.  VCU scored five runs on five hits and two walks in the inning to increase the lead to 13-0.

In the home half of the sixth, after a one-out single by junior second baseman Brett Stallings, Pracht put the Patriots on the scoreboard when he belted a two-run home run over the left field fence off of VCU sophomore Jack Masloff to make it 13-2.

VCU tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the seventh with two RBI-singles to make it a 15-2 game.

The Patriots scored three more runs in the bottom of the eighth off of VCU freshman Nick Frazier.

Senior first baseman Scott Morgan led off with a single and freshman right fielder Alex Knapp reached on an error.  After both players moved up a base on a wild pitch, Stallings drove in Morgan with a sacrifice fly.

Pracht then knocked in his third run of the game with a single to left field, with Knapp crossing the plate.  Pracht moved to second on a wild pitch and went to third on a balk before freshman catcher Connor Dykstra plated the final run of the game with a single to center to make the score 15-5.
