PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Mason baseball team dropped the final game of its series to Saint Joseph's, 14-2, on Sunday afternoon at Smithson Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mason (10-20, 2-4 A-10) fell behind Saint Joseph's (16-13, 3-3 A-10) when the Hawks scored three runs in the first inning against Patriots graduate student starter
Danny Hosley.
Sophomore left fielder Brett Callahan led off with a walk, sophomore right fielder Conlan Wall singled and senior third baseman Nate Thomas walked to load the bases.
With one out, graduate student center fielder Brendan Hueth plated a pair of runs with a two-run double down the right field line to put Saint Joseph's in front. Junior first baseman Brandon Drapeau then drove in a run with a ground out to make it 3-0.
The Patriots dented the scoreboard in the top of the third against Hawks graduate student starter Noah Weber. With two outs, freshman right fielder
Yogie Hartigan singled and junior second baseman
Brett Stallings reached on an error.

Carsen Pracht knocked in Hartigan with a RB-single to right field to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Hawks got the run back in the home half of the third when Thomas hit a solo home run over the right field fence to make the score 4-1.
In the top of the fourth, Mason sophomore center fielder
Jordan Smith led off with a triple and scored the Patriots last run of the day on a ground out by freshman left fielder
Brett Ahalt to trim the advantage to 4-2.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Thomas hit his second home run of the game, a three-run shot off of Hosley to increase the lead to 7-2.
Saint Joseph's sent 13 batters to the plate, scoring seven runs on four hits and five walks against four Mason relievers in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 14-2.
Thomas had the big hit in the inning, belting his second three-run home run of the game over the right field fence. He set the Hawks record with three round-trippers in the contest.
Saint Joseph's took two-of-three games in the series. The Patriots fell to 2-7 all-time in games played at Smithson Field against the Hawks.
The Patriots used six pitchers in the game.
Hosley (3-3) allowed seven runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings. Senior
Mason Posey gave up three runs on three hits in one inning of work. In the sixth inning, freshman
Britt Yount surrendered three runs on one hit and retired two batters, freshman
Diego Barrett allowed one run on one hit. Senior
Hugh O'Hara tossed 1.1 scoreless innings, and freshman
Jackson Baird pitched a hitless eighth.
For the Hawks, Weber allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits in 4.0 innings. Senior Mike Falco (5-2) scattered five hits over 4.0 scoreless innings to earn the win. Junior Alec Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth.
Hartigan, Pracht and Stallings each had two hits in the game for the Patriots.
The Patriots wrap up five straight games on the road when they travel to face Longwood on Tuesday, with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. in Farmville, Va.
