Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |
FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's volleyball team (8-11, 3-6 EIVA) fell in three sets (20-25, 13-25, 19-25) against No. 2 Penn State (17-3, 10-0 EIVA) on Sunday afternoon inside EagleBank Arena.

No. 2 Penn State took the lead early in the first set before the Patriots tied the match at 4-4 before taking the slight advantage. Mason and the Nittany Lions went neck and neck before No. 2 Penn State started to peel away and take the slight advantage at the 17–22-point mark before winning the set 25-20.

Similar to the first set, No. 2 Penn State took the slight advantage before Mason tied the set at 2-2. The Nittany Lions got hot, taking the large lead early before winning the set 25-13.

Despite No. 2 Penn State taking the early lead, the Patriots came back to take the lead back from the Nittany Lions, Mason's first lead of the game. Mason held the advantage over the Nittany Lions before they stormed back to tie the match, eventually going neck and neck until the 9-9-point mark. No. 2 Penn State slowly started to drift away from the Patriots taking a small lead. A late rally from Mason wasn't enough as the Nittany Lions came away with the 25-19 win.

"We had a fantastic crowd in the Eagle Bank Arena today, and our fans wanted something to grab onto and root for," said Head Coach Jay Hosack. "We just didn't execute our style of play at all today. It showed up in spurts, but against good teams we need to do it for longer stretches of time."
