PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason suffered its fifth straight loss on Saturday, falling to VCU, 67-56, on Senior Day in EagleBank Arena. Mason is 2-9 at home this season.
* The Patriots fell behind early, 16-5, before cutting the deficit to four in the third quarter (41-37). But, a five-minute Mason scoring drought in the fourth quarter allowed VCU to hold on for the victory, 67-56.
* Junior
Tamia Lawhorne led the Patriots with 17 points, two shy of her season best. She tied her career-high five three-pointers (5-10 3FG) to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. She has led the team in scoring in three of the last five games.
* Senior
Amaya Scott added 16 points and four rebounds. She's scored in double figures 21 times this season, including a stretch of 16 straight games.
* Sophomore
Taylor Jameson has come alive for the Patriots in conference play, posting nine double-digit scoring performances. In league action, she's averaging 11.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 34.8 percent from deep with 24 three-pointers.
* Mason is 8-2 when leading at the half, and 5-1 when leading with five minutes to go. Conversely, the Patriots are 0-14 when trailing at the half.
* Scott ranks 115th nationally in points per game (16.1) – good for fifth in the Atlantic 10. She also ranks 64th nationally in field goals made (157) and 95th in free throws made (87). She sits ninth in the A-10 in rebounding (6.5) and 18th in field goal percentage (.452).
* Despite ranking in the top-100 nationally in free throws made (314-464 FT), the Patriots have struggled from the charity stripe over the last seven games. Mason is shooting just 52.2 percent from the line, making 60 of its 115 attempts.
* Lawhorne ranks eighth in the A-10 in three-point field goal percentage (.369) and 10th in three-pointers per game (1.8). She's recorded seven games with three-or-more three-pointers.
