FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team (13-11, 6-5) heads to the Bronx for a nationally-televised Sunday matinee on USA Network vs. Fordham (11-13, 4-8).

Tip-off between the Patriots and Rams is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday's contest will be broadcast nationally on USA Network, featuring commentary from Chris Lewis and Sydney Johnson. In addition, Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 2:15 p.m.

• Mason is coming off a 75-70, overtime win at Saint Joseph's Wednesday. The Patriots erased a 10-point deficit (60-50) with 3:16 to go, then took control in the overtime period.

• A-10 leading scorer Josh Oduro (18.7 ppg) led Mason with a career-best 33 points (12-18 FG) to go along with eight rebounds. It marked his fourth 30+ point effort of the year - the most by a Patriot since Curtis McCants in 1995-96.

• Oduro's averaging 26.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 blocks over his past four games.

D'Shawn Schwartz added 18 points (3-6 3pt FG) in the win and dished out four assists. He's averaging 18.0 points in league play (8th in A-10) and shooting 42.5 percent from 3pt range.

• Mason held a +6 (13-7) turnover margin at SJU which led to a decisive 19-3 edge in points off turnovers for the game. Mason is a perfect 9-0 when winning the turnover battle this season.

• The Patriots rank 20th nationally and second in the A-10 with 9.7 3pt FG made/game. That's a school record by a sizable margin (7.3/game, 1987-88). With the team's seventh 3-pointer at SJU, Mason broke the previous school record of 230 total 3s, set in 2017-18.

• Graduate student DeVon Cooper ranks 16th nationally in 3pt FG% and his 42.9 clip on the year is third all time at Mason for a student-athlete with at least 150 attempts.

• Cooper needs just one 3-pointer to reach 200 for his career. When he gets there, the Patriots will be one of just 21 programs nationally to have two players with 200+ career triples (D'Shawn Schwartz).

• Point guard Xavier Johnson is averaging 5.7 assists in A-10 play and 5.0 overall. He's the first Patriot student-athlete to average 5+ assists since Terry Reynolds in 2003-04.

• If Oduro finishes the season ranked first in the A-10 in scoring, he'd claim Mason's first individual conference scoring title since George Evans in 1998-99 (17.2 ppg).

HISTORY vs. FORDHAM
Sunday's matchup marks the 13th all-time meeting between Mason and Fordham. The Rams hold a 7-5 advantage in the series, although the Patriots have won five of the past six matchups. Fordham has won three of the four games played in the Bronx. In the most recent matchup between the programs, Mason proved dominant in a 77-45 triumph on Feb. 10, 2021, in Fairfax. Josh Oduro tallied eight points, six rebounds and four assists in the victory.

HISTORY vs. BIG APPLE PROGRAMS
The Patriots have amassed an all-time record of 16-12 against colleges located within the five boroughs of New York City. The majority of those contests have come against Fordham (5-7), but Mason also has suited up against LIU (4-2), Manhattan (4-1), Wagner (2-0), St. Francis (1-0), St. John's (0-1), and Div. III Brooklyn College (0-1). The Patriots have played teams from the Bronx (Fordham, Manhattan), Staten Island (Wagner), Brooklyn (LIU, St. Francis, Brooklyn) and Queens (St. John's). But the Patriots have never played a Manhattan-based college in men's basketball. The last time Mason played in Rose Hill Gym, the Patriots picked up their first win in the building, 65-61, on March 7, 2020.

A LOOK AT THE RAMS (11-13, 4-8 A-10; KenPom 180, NET 186)
Fordham was picked 14th in the A-10 preseason poll but has put together an 11-13 record and 4-8 mark in A-10 play. The Rams feature a top-75 KenPom defense (0.976 points/possession) but average just 0.965 points/possession on the offensive end (294th nationally). Fordham ranks third in the A-10 in steals/game (7.6) and forces 14.4 opponent turnovers per contest. Darius Quisenberry leads the team in scoring (17.3 ppg) and grabs 4.1 rebounds per game, although he has missed the past few games with a leg injury. Chuba Ohams adds 13.5 points per contest and ranks seventh nationally in rebounds/game (11.3) and double-doubles (14).

UP NEXT
Mason wraps up a three-game road swing Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest at VCU. The game will be televised regionally on MASN2 and broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
