FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University women's volleyball head coach
Aylene Ilkson has announced the addition of Wichita State transfer Skylar Goering for the 2022 fall season.
Goering, a five-foot-11 outside hitter, will pursue a graduate degree at Mason, and has two years of eligibility remaining with the Patriots.
"Skylar is going to be a real impact player in our program," said Ilkson. "Her time in Wichita has helped her greatly; she is a mature and intentional athlete who we are excited to have in our gym. Skylar's ability to terminate on the outside and contribute as a dominant front-row attacker will make her a real asset to our program and a real threat to our opponents. Skylar is an outstanding woman who excels on the court as well as the classroom. I know will be an outstanding addition to the Mason community. We could not be more thrilled to welcome her to Fairfax."
Goering, a native of Wichita, Kan., played in 11 matches and 19 sets over three seasons at Wichita State.
She appeared in nine matches and 17 sets in fall 2021 as the Shockers posted a 19-10 overall record and fifth-place finish in the American League. She recorded the final point of the season with a kill to secure a win against Memphis on Nov. 26.
Off the court, she was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for Fall of 2021.
Prior to WSU, Goering starred at Maize South High School, where she was an all-state selection and a three-time all-league honoree. She earned Derby Tournament MVP accolades as a senior.
Goering joins Mason's 2022 incoming class that features Gabriella Gelfound (Lancaster, California), Haley Graetz (River Falls, Wisconsin) and Rachel Larson (Ashburn, Virginia).
