FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team wraps up a three-game road stretch Friday against Massachusetts. Tip-off is scheduled for noon inside the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass.
Friday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 11:50 a.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason (8-13, 2-8 A-10) will play at UMass on Friday in a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 1. The Patriots are 5-6 on the road this season.
* Mason recently fell to A-10 preseason favorite Dayton on Saturday in Ohio. The Patriots could not overcome a 17-point first-quarter hole, falling 84-44. Dayton made eight three-pointers and forced 23 Patriot turnovers.
* Mason dropped to 1-9 when its opponent makes seven-or-more three-pointers. Conversely, the Patriots are 3-2 when they make 7+ three-pointers.

Tamia Lawhorne led the Patriots with 10 points vs. the Flyers. She has scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the Patriots.
* Sophomore
Taylor Jameson has posted six double-digit scoring performances in Atlantic 10 play. In league action, she's averaging 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
* With victories over GW (Jan. 29) and Davidson (Feb. 2), Mason won back-to-back A-10 games for the first time since 2018-19 when the Patriots defeated Dayton on Feb. 24 (54-51) and Saint Joseph's on Feb. 27 (68-59).
* Mason held its opponent to 50 points or fewer in back-to-back games – GW and Davidson – for the first time since the 2017-18 season when the Patriots defeated Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 9 (64-41) and UMBC on Dec. 11 (58-38).
* Mason is 8-2 when leading at the half, and 5-1 when leading with five minutes to go. Conversely, the Patriots are 0-10 when trailing at the half.
* Mason has switched to a two-point guard lineup over the last six games, featuring Jameson and
Jayla Adams. Over that stretch, Jameson is averaging 11.0 points and 2.8 assists while Adams is averaging 7.0 points and 4.2 assists.
* Adams is currently averaging 3.8 assists per game – good for seventh in the A-10. She's led the team in assists 15 times this season and has dished out five-plus assists in eight games.
* Mason ranks 66th in the nation in free throws made, sinking 283 this season (.699). The Patriots have shot 70.0 percent or better from the line in 13 games but have shot under that mark in their last three contests.
* Senior
Amaya Scott ranks 85th nationally in points per game (16.6) – good for fourth in the Atlantic 10. She also ranks 69th nationally in field goals made (134) and 65th in free throws made (80). She sits ninth in the A-10 in rebounding (7.1) and 14th in field goal percentage (.451).
* Junior
Jordan Wakefield has scored in double figures in 14 games this season, but just four of them have come in Atlantic 10 play. She ranks seventh in the A-10 in free throw percentage (.781) and 24th in scoring (11.1).
* Jameson sits eighth in the A-10 in free throw percentage (.780) and 23rd in assists per game (2.4).
* Lawhorne ranks 19th in the A-10 in three-point field goal percentage (.329) and 17th in the three-pointers per game (1.5).
SERIES HISTORY
The Patriots hold an 9-2 advantage in the all-time series with UMass. Mason has won five of the last six vs. the Minutewomen. The two teams did not meet in 2020-21 after the contest was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
SCOUTING THE MINUTEWOMEN (18-5, 6-3 A-10; NET 51)
UMass is on a three-game winning streak entering Friday's contest, recently defeating St. Bonaventure, 78-59, on Wednesday in Olean. The Minutewomen's three A-10 losses came against the league's undefeated duo of Rhode Island and Dayton.
UMass ranks 16th nationally in rebounds (954) and 64th in scoring offense (.714) which both lead the Atlantic 10. Senior Sam Breen, who is averaging 16.4 points per game, leads the conference in double-doubles with 14 – good for 11th nationally. She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds against St. Bonaventure. She ranks 21st in the country in rebounds per game (10.8) and 25th in field goals made (155).
