Fairfax, Va-- George Mason wrestlers grad student Peter Pappas and sophomore Logan Messer were crowned champions at the ARMS Software Patriots Open held today at the George Mason Field House. Mason claimed 13 overall place-winners in the annual tournament.

Pappas began the tournament decisively with a fall against Navy's Michael Ponenti at 157 pounds. In the finals, Pappas edged 2022 NCAA Qualifier Ashton Eyler from Lock Haven, 3-2. Pappas improves to 12-1.

Messer won all three of his matches at 174 to earn top medalist. The sophomore defeated K. Mosher from Columbia, 4-2, in the title bout. He improves to 15-2 this season.

Three Patriots fell in the final of their weight class to earn second-place finishes, DJ McGee (149), Markel Baker (125), and Jonathan List (197). McGee dropped a 4-0 decision to Columbia's Richard Fedalen in the finals. Baker earned three straight decisions before losing 10-3 to A. Noto from Lock Haven in the finals. List had a medical forfiet in the finals.

Eight other Patriots earned fourth to sixth place. Drew Dickson, Nate Higley, and Tyler Kocak earned fourth place finishes, with Evan Maag, Anthlny Glasl and Josh Jones finished fifth. Dominic Hargrove and Jeremy Seymour finished on the podium in sixth place.
