FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's volleyball freshman Gabriella Gelfound was named the 2022 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team on Thursday, as announced by the conference.
 
The six-foot-two setter put together one of the most well-rounded rookie campaigns in recent years for the Patriots, finishing the season ranked in the top-3 of five major statistical categories. Gelfound was first on the team in assists (497) and aces (31), second in digs (203) and third in kills (169) and blocks (58.0). Her 497 assists are the most by a freshman since 2017 when Emily Konchan registered 587.
 
Gelfound also tallied two triple doubles against New Orleans (27a/13k/11d) and William & Mary (22a/15k/12d) and four double-doubles against George Washington (30a/18d), Dayton (11a/11d), Davidson (18a/11d) and Fordham (37a/14d).
 
She was consistent throughout the season, starting all but one match, registering double-digit assists in all but four matches and eclipsing the 20-assist mark eight times.
 
This marks the Patriots' fourth-ever A-10 All-Rookie selection, and the second in as many years when current sophomore Olyvia Kennedy earned the honor in 2021.
 
The Atlantic 10 announced its major awards along with the All-Conference, All-Rookie and All-Academic teams Thursday prior to the start of the 2022 A-10 Volleyball Championship. The major awards, All-Conference Teams and All-Rookie Team were voted on by the A-10's head volleyball coaches while the Al-Academic team was selected by the volleyball athletic communications directors.
