SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach Kim English received an indelible career honor on Tuesday when he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame during a commemorative luncheon.

The event was held at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center in Springfield, Mo. and featured a number of celebrated athletes who competed in the Show Me State.

A four-year letterman at the University of Missouri from 2008-2012, English scored more than 1,500 points and averaged 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals a game for the Tigers over his career.

Attendees at Tuesday's luncheon included longtime Mason supporters Kathy McKay and Chris Durlak, as well as English's teammate at Mizzou, Phil Pressey.

"I'm incredibly thankful to so many people - to the University of Missouri, to George Mason University, all of Mizzou supporters, my friends, my families, my daughters," English said. "This is an incredible honor. I always feel like this type of award is a bit undeserving in a team sport. The focus was always on the team."

English earned Third Team All-Big 12 Conference honors in 2010 and 2012, and Missouri won 107 games during his four-year career, making his class the winningest in program history. The Tigers won a school-record 31 games while making a run to the 2009 Elite Eight in English's freshman campaign.

He averaged a career-best 14.5 points as a senior in 2011-2012 and ranked fifth in the Big 12 with 78 3-point makes, while leading Missouri to 30 wins, one of two Big 12 Tournament titles during his career and a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

He was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2012 Big 12 Tournament after averaging 23.0 points.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2022 also included high school basketball coach Steve Frank, NCAA referee Buford Goddard, Missouri State's Casey Garrison Powell and Arcadia Valley and the National Basketball Association's Chris Carr. Joining them will be the Exeter High School Boys Basketball State Championship Team of 1963, the McDonald County High School Girls Basketball Era of 1980-1983 and the Logan-Rogersville Boys Basketball Era of 1982-1986.
