Set one was evenly matched, as both teams tallied 13 kills. However, the Patriots (7-21, 3-14) had the edge with less errors and more aces to take a 1-0 lead.

The Rams (12-16, 6-11) relied on defense in the next two sets, limiting Mason to just 17 kills and forcing 16 hitting errors to take a 2-1 match lead.

Mason fell behind in set four, but would not give up. Down 7-4, The Patriots scored 14 of the next 19 points to take a comfortable 18-12 lead. Fordham was able to get within one at 22-21, but two Ram hitting errors and a kill by Lopez-Barahona secured the set four win and force the fifth set.

It was all Mason to begin set five, as it built a 7-1 lead on several Fordham errors and two kills and an ace by Gelfound. However, the Rams would go on an 8-2 run of their own to tie the set at nine all. Fordham would rally behind their offense, converting six kills to take the set 15-11 and win the match.
