WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite a dozen kills from senior

Peyton Ehmke kill and a
Damiana Bova-Ford ace sparked a 5-2 run and force a GW timeout. Back-to-back kills by Mambu made the score 22-19, but George Washington scored the last three points to take a 1-0 match lead.

Mason used an 8-2 run in the beginning of the set to build a six-point cushion that would last throughout the match. The Colonials pulled within three at 16-13, but two block assists by Ehmke pushed the lead back to seven and Mason tied the match at one-a-piece with a 25-20 win.
