RICHMOND, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition at the Richmond Duals on Saturday.
The men's team won its two-day dual against Davidson, 205.5-166.5, and the Mason women's team posted a 160.5-138.5 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday.
On the women's side, the Patriots won eight events against the Wildcats on the way to the victory.
Graduate student
Madison Nalls won the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.05), with sophomore
Emma DeJong third (1:56.81).Â
In the 500-yard freestyle, Nalls notched a second-place finish (5:10.58) and freshman
Gracie Sweeney was fourth (5:17.40).
Graduate student
Jacquee Clabeaux took the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.37), while freshman
Ainsley Toews just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish (1:08.16).
The Patriots went one-two in the 100-yard backstroke with sophomore
Ali Tyler touching the wall first (55.97) and classmate
Anka Whelan second (57.19). Tyler also won the 100-yard freestyle (52.63), with DeJong third in the event (52.85).
Whelan swam to a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke by nearly seven seconds (2:02.80) and also won the 400-yard IM by just under four seconds (4:30.53).
Junior
Abigail Murtaugh won the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.33).
The Patriots swept the relay events against the Wildcats.
The team of freshman
Peyton Brehmer, along with Clabeaux, Murtaugh and Whelan won the 400-yard medley relay (3:51.60). The group of sophomores
Emma Burke and
Shannon Judge, along with freshman
Angelina Zeidan and Toews placed fourth in the event (3:59.46).
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the combination of Tyler, Brehmer, Judge and Clabeaux claimed the victory (1:34.72). Senior
Emily Lewantowicz, DeJong, Nalls and Zeidan united to take third (1:37.69).
On the men's side, the Patriots won four events on the final day of their dual against Davidson.
Freshman
Tate Anderson won both the 50-yard backstroke (23.73) and 100-yard backstroke (50.37). Sophomore
Alexander Franklin placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (51.20).
Senior
Sammy Lucht took the top spot in the 50-yard breaststroke (26.29), while sophomore
Tyler Lentine placed fourth (26.65) and sophomore
Justin Lee was fifth (27.24). Lentine claimed the 100-yard breaststroke (57.93), while Lucht was third in the event (58.56).
Freshman
Aoun Al-Hiari placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (50.53).
The Patriots took three of the top four spots in the 50-yard butterfly, with senior
Josh Fletcher second (23.01), junior
Anthony Nguyen third (23.04) and sophomore
Logan Skiles fourth (23.08).

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the combination of sophomore
Zane Roberts, freshman
Joshua Hochard, Anderson and Fletcher won the event (1:23.25). Freshman
Danny Schwabauer, Skiles, Nguyen and Al-Hiari placed third (1:25.05).
In the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Franklin, Lentine, Fletcher and Roberts placed second (3:25.26), while freshman
Jett Lee, Lucht, Al-Hiari and Nguyen finished third (3:25.60).

The Patriots are back in action when they compete in the A-10 Classic Oct. 29-20 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
