FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team returns home to face UNC Wilmington on Tuesday, with the opening kick scheduled for 4 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
Last time out, the Patriots (2-9-1, 1-4-1 A-10) fell to Rhode Island, 2-1, on Saturday at the URI Soccer Complex in Kingston, R.I.
Mason junior forward
Ishmail Kamara tied the match with his first goal of the season in the 18th minute of play. The game remained tied until the final minute when the Rams scored the game-winner. The Rams outshot the Patriots, 14-5, including a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Graduate student forward
Noah Raphael leads the club in goals (2) and points (4) in 12 games played with three starts. Sophomore forward
Balint Kocso leads the team in shots (15) and shots on goal (7) in 12 games with 10 starts.Â

Mason and UNCW have met 31 times, with all but one of the matches in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. The Patriots are 13-2-2 at home, 9-4-0 on the road and 1-0-0 in the lone neutral site match against the Seahawks.
Mason and UNCW have met twice in the CAA Tournament with the Patriots winning both games. The Patriots defeated the Seahawks, 3-2, in overtime on Nov. 9, 1999 in Virginia Beach, Va. In the second matchup, the game ended 2-2 and Mason won 5-4 on penalty kicks on Nov. 11, 2003 in Fairfax, Va.
Tuesday's match will be the first meeting between the two teams in 10 years. Â Â
The Patriots and Seahawks last met on Sept. 22, 2012 at George Mason Stadium. The Patriots were ranked No. 20 in the nation and blanked the Seahawks, 2-0, in the CAA opener. Mason scored in the sixth minute and 54th minute of play.

The Green and Gold kicked off the season at Old Dominion on Aug. 26 (1-0, Old Dominion) and American on Sept. 2 (2-1, American) in the first two games of seven non-conference matches.
Mason then played three straight games at George Mason Stadium, the longest homestand of the season. The Patriots hosted Penn State on Sept. 5 in the home opener (3-1, Nittany Lions), Radford on Sept. 10 (3-1, Patriots) and played their first conference match of the season against St. Bonaventure on Sept. 17 (2-1, Patriots).
Mason played seven games in September, with four on the road and three at home.Â
The Patriots played a season-high four straight matches on the road from Sept. 20 through Oct. 1, alternating non-conference and league games.Â
The Patriots made the trek to take on top-ranked Wake Forest on Sept. 20 (6-1, Demon Deacons), played their first A-10 road game against Davidson on Sept. 24 (2-0, Wildcats), visited William & Mary on Sept. 27 (3-0, Tribe) and traveled to No. 19 Dayton on Oct. 1 (4-0, Flyers).
Mason returned to Fairfax to continued league play against La Salle on Oct. 5 (0-0 draw) and hosted Duquesne on Oct. 8 (1-0, Dukes). After an A-10 road matchup at Rhode Island on Oct. 15 (2-1, Rams), the Patriots are back home for a non-conference game against UNCW (Oct. 18).Â
The Patriots travel to face in-state rival VCU (Oct. 22) and conclude the regular season at home against the George Washington Colonials (Oct. 29) in a Revolutionary Rivalry contest.
This season, the Patriots are scheduled to play 15 regular season games, a slate that includes two matches against NCAA Tournament teams. Mason will play seven home games, three against non-conference opponents and four against Atlantic 10 rivals.
SCOUTING UNCW
UNCW enters the match with a 5-3-4 overall record, including a mark of 3-1-2 against Colonial Athletic Association opponents. The Seahawks are 2-2-1 at home and 3-1-3 on the road this season.
Last time out, UNCW clinched a CAA Tournament berth with a 2-0 shutout against William & Mary on Saturday at Martin Family Stadium in Williamsburg, Va. The Tribe outshot the Seahawks, 10-6, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
The Seahawks have recorded five shutouts in their seven road matches this season.Â
UNCW has blanked William & Mary (2-0, Oct. 15), Northeastern (1-0, Oct. 1), North Carolina (0-0, Sept. 20), Monmouth (2-0, Sept. 3), and American (0-0, Aug. 25) away from home.
UNCW has only surrendered five goals against in its seven road contests.
Senior midfielder Omar Aboutaleb leads the club in goals (3) in 12 games played with nine starts. He is second on the team in points (6) and tied for third in shots on goal (4).
Senior midfielder Gabe Mercer paces the Seahawks in assists (3), points (7), shots (17) and is tied for first in shots on goal in 11 games played with six starts. He is tied for second on the team in goals (2).
Senior forward Jalen Anderson is tied for first on the team in shots on goal (8), second in goals (2) and tied for third in points (5) in 12 games played with seven starts.Â
Senior goalkeeper Gabriel Perrotta (4-3-4, 0.81 GAA, 1004 MIN, 6 SO) has started all 12 games for the Seahawks with 48 saves and nine goals against. He's UNCW's all-time leader in clean sheets with 26 in his career.
