CHICAGO, Ill. – The George Mason women's volleyball team bounced back to win set three on Saturday afternoon, but ultimately could not rally for the win over Loyola Chicago and fell 3-1.
Sophomore
Olyvia Kennedy once again led the Patriots (5-15, 1-8) in kills, putting down nine at a team-best .533 clip with only one error.
The Ramblers (15-7, 9-0) got off to a fast start, taking set one, 25-11. Loyola Chicago was able to outhit Mason .350--.280 and force 11 errors to take a 1-0 lead.
The Patriots were able to limit LUC to just .053 hitting in set two, but just seven kills by GMU limited the team and they fell 25-17.
George Mason saw their most efficient hitting come in set three at .312, which helped them keep a lead for the second half of the set and cut the match score to 2-1.
Despite 12 Patriot kills in set four, 15 kills at .353 led Loyola Chicago to the match win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Freshman Gabriella Gelfound led the Patriots with 16 kills while junior Grace Kristofic was just behind her with 15 of her own.
- Graduate student Peyton Ehmke led Mason at the net, once again matching her season-high with six block assists.
- Two Patriots recorded double-digit digs, with junior Katelyn Clarke registering 10 and senior Stephanie Der tallied a match-high 16.

The Patriots will return to Fairfax next weekend when they welcome Duquesne to the RAC on Friday and Saturday. Both matches will begin at 5 p.m.
