PATRIOT POINTS
• The Patriots wrapped up an unbeaten homestand with a 75-66 triumph over A-10 preseason favorite St. Bonaventure Wednesday in Fairfax. In Mason's third game in five days, the Patriots never trailed while tying their season high with 15 3-pointers on 32 attempts (.469).
• Graduate student
D'Shawn Schwartz led the Patriots with 20 points (7-12 FG, 5-9 3pt FG). It marked his sixth 20+ point game of the season and fifth with at least four triples this season. He's scored at least 14 points in the past seven games.
• After a 31-point effort Monday in the win over SJU, junior
Josh Oduro put together a fantastic all-around performance Wednesday with 15 points (5-9 FG), seven rebounds, an A-10 personal best five blocks, a career-best tying four assists and two steals.
• In A-10 play, Oduro ranks third in the league in scoring (20.0 ppg) while Schwartz is fourth (19.5 ppg).
• Junior
Davonte Gaines added 14 points, eight rebounds and a career-best four assists against the Bonnies. Gaines ranks second in the A-10 in double-doubles (5) and rebounding (8.2 rpg).
• The Patriots rank 18th nationally in 2pt FG% (.559), 22nd in effective FG% (.552) and 60th in 3pt FG% (.362) this season.
• Oduro ranks second in the A-10 and 25th nationally in field goal percentage (.570). He is one of just three players in the country this season to average 17 or more points, shoot 56 percent or better from the floor and tally at least 1.5 blocks per game.
• The Patriots rank 27th nationally and second in the A-10 with 9.5 3pt FG made/game. That's a school record by a sizable margin (7.3/game, 1987-88). Mason needs just 68 3-pointers (4.9/game) over the final 14 regular season games to break the school record of 230 total 3s, set in 2017-18.
• The Patriots are averaging just 10.8 turnovers in league play, down from 12.6/game during non-conference play. Mason is 7-0 when winning the turnover battle against its opponent this season.
• The Patriots allow an offensive rebound on just 22.3 percent of opponent possessions, which ranks 10th out of 358 teams nationally. Mason has limited its foe to less than 10 offensive boards in 14 of 17 contests this season.
• The Patriots are shooting 49.3 percent as a team in league play, which leads the Atlantic 10. Mason has shot at least 52 percent in three of four conference contests in 2022.

HISTORY vs. MASSACHUSETTS
Sunday's matchup marks the 15th all-time meeting between Mason and UMass. The Patriots hold a 10-4 advantage in the series and have won nine of the past 10 meetings. The Patriots are 5-2 all time against UMass in Amherst. It's a popcorn worthy A-10 series, as 10 of the past 12 meetings have been decided by six points or less and four of the past eight contests have gone to overtime.
Last season, Mason won a 93-92, double overtime thriller in Amherst on Dec. 30, 2020. The Patriots trailed by eight (59-51) with 1:20 left in regulation, by seven (73-66) with 3:04 to go in OT and by five with 1:25 to go in double OT but were able to complete the improbable comeback. Then junior
Jamal Hartwell II tallied 19 points and went 4-of-5 from 3-point range in the win. That sizzling performance included a 3-pointer to send the game into a second overtime, and two triples with under two minutes to go in 2OT which put the Patriots ahead for good.
