FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's volleyball team (2-2) plays host to North Greenville (1-1) on Saturday, Jan. 29. The match is set for 5 p.m. inside the Recreation Athletic Complex (RAC).

LAST TIME OUT
Mason is coming off of a weekend split against Purdue Fort Wayne and Ball State during their trip to Indiana. The Green & Gold defeated Purdue Fort Wayne last Thursday in a gritty five set match (18-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, 16-14), followed by a loss in three sets (11-25, 18-25, 10-25) to Ball State on Friday.
 
Redshirt sophomore Jack Bolz led the Patriots on the offensive end. The opposite recorded team highs and career highs in kills (21) and service aces (3) in the match against Purdue Fort Wayne. In two matches, Bolz tallied a total of 27 kills, three service aces, seven blocks, and five digs.

On the defensive end, sophomore Omar Hoyos tallied 16 kills, one assist, and 14 digs in seven sets of action. The outside hitter also leads the team in digs, recording a team high of 13 in the win over Purdue Fort Wayne.
 
Graduate student Brady Rosen made his first appearance for the Green & Gold. All 12 Patriots that traveled to Indiana saw action over the two matches.

 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
NORTH GREENVILLE (1-1)
 
The Crusaders finished their 2021 season with an overall record of 13-5, 7-4 in conference play. North Greenville ended last season's campaign in a four-set loss to Belmont Abbey during the first round of the Conference Carolinas tournament.
 
The Crusaders are led defensively by freshman Gregory Torres. The outside hitter/opposite leads the team with 21 total digs. He has also tallied 22 kills in eight sets played, good for second on the team.

Sophomore Diego Rosich leads the Crusaders on the offensive end. The outside hitter has recorded 30 kills, five service aces, and one assist in nine sets played.
 
This is the first match up between the two schools in program history.
