Patriots Clash with La Salle Friday Night

FAIRFAX, Va. — The George Mason women's basketball team continues its homestand on Friday night against La Salle. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena.
 
Friday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+ with commentary by Steve Kolbe and Bill Rohland. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason (6-9, 0-3 A-10) will welcome St. Bonaventure to EBA for nationally televised contest on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for noon on CBS Sports Network. 
 
* The Patriots enter Friday's contest on a six-game losing streak. Mason is looking for its first win since Dec. 1 when the Patriots defeated Florida, 75-71.
 
* Mason recently fell to Richmond, 78-64, on Wednesday night in EBA. The Spiders shot 42.6 percent from the floor and made 11 three-pointers. Mason is 1-6 when its opponent makes 7-or-more three-pointers. 
 
* Senior Amaya Scott scored a game-high 24 points, her fifth time with 20-plus points this season. The A-10's third-leading scorer shot 60.0 percent (9-15) from the field and finished with five rebounds and three steals.
 
* Junior Jordan Wakefield nearly posted a double-double against Richmond. She scored 15 points and tied her career-high nine rebounds. She also led the team in assists for the first time this season, dishing out a career-high four assists. 
 
* After shooting below 70.0 percent from the free throw line in the last two games, Mason made 20 trips to the charity stripe against Richmond, sinking 17 of its attempts (.850). 
 
* Redshirt sophomore Jayla Adams has led the team in assists in 11-of-15 games this season. She is currently averaging 3.6 assists per game – good for eighth in the A-10.
  
* Mason ranks 70th in the nation in free throws made, going 206-of-287 from the line this season (.718). The Patriots have shot 70.0 percent or better from the line in 10-of-15 games.
 
* Scott ranks 57th nationally in points per game (17.9) – good for third in the Atlantic 10. She also ranks 46th nationally in field goals made (106) and 82nd in free throws made (55). 

* Scott is averaging 21.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 48.2 percent the floor in conference play. 
 
* Wakefield ranks 15th in the A-10 in scoring (13.1) and 20th in rebounding (5.7). 
 
* Wakefield ranks 40th nationally in free throw percentage (.862) – good for fourth in the Atlantic 10. She was a perfect 5-of-5 from the line vs. Richmond. 
 
* Sophomore Taylor Jameson sits seventh in the A-10 in FT percentage (.825), sinking 33-of-40 attempts. She was 4-for-4 from the line against the Spiders. 
 
* Mason had a turnover margin of -1.2 during non-conference play. The Patriots are now +3.0 in turnover margin in league action. They posted just nine turnovers against Richmond – two shy of a season low.  
 
* Scott reached the 1,000-point milestone for her career vs. Fordham on Jan. 12. She will be honored for her accomplishment on Sunday with a pregame ceremony.
 
SERIES HISTORY
La Salle has a slight 9-5 edge in the all-time series. The Explorers have won the last four meetings, including 56-49 win over the Patriots on Jan. 24, 2021 in Philadelphia. Mason is 3-3 on its home court vs. the Explorers.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS (9-6, 2-1 A-10; NET 158)
La Salle is 2-1 to begin Atlantic 10 play, defeating Fordham, 71-62, and Saint Joseph's, 69-65. 
 
The Explorers rank fourth in the nation in free throw percentage, shooting 79.7 percent from the line. They also rank 64th nationally in steals per game (9.8) — good for first in the Atlantic 10.
 
La Salle is led by A-10 Preseason All-Conference selections Kayla Spruill and Claire Jacobs. Spruill ranks fifth in the A-10 in rebounds per game (8.4) and 10th in points per game (15.0). Jacobs sits 10th in the league in three-pointers made with 29.
