FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team begins its three-game homestand on Wednesday night against Richmond. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena.
 
Wednesday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+ with commentary by Steve Kolbe and Bill Rohland. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason (6-8, 0-2 A-10) begins its three-game homestand on Wednesday night against Richmond. The Patriots will then play La Salle on Friday, followed by a nationally televised contest against St. Bonaventure on Sunday (CBS Sports Network). 
 
* The Patriots enter Wednesday's contest on a five-game losing streak. Mason is looking for its first win since Dec. 1 when the Patriots defeated Florida, 75-71.
 
* Mason is 0-2 to begin Atlantic 10 play, suffering losses to Fordham, 73-64, and Rhode Island, 59-49. Both programs were selected to finish in the top-3 of the A-10 preseason coaches' poll. 
 
* Senior Amaya Scott reached the 1,000-point milestone for her career vs. Fordham on Jan. 12. The transfer forward scored 771 of those points during her time at Bethune-Cookman. 
 
* Scott scored a career-high 28 points vs. Fordham and added 12 points vs. Rhode Island. She has scored in double figures in all but one game this season. 
 
* Sophomore Taylor Jameson led the Patriots with a team-high 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting against Rhode Island. It marked a career high in field goals made for the guard, and the first time she's led the team in scoring this season.
 
* Sophomore Angelee Rodriguez missed the first 10 games of the season due to injury. She's since played in three games, averaging nearly 11 minutes per contest. She scored a career-high 10 points (5-8 FG) against Rhode Island in her first career start.
 
* Redshirt sophomore Jayla Adams made her first career start in the Green & Gold against Fordham. She finished with career highs in points (11) and field goals made (5).
  
* Mason ranks 102nd in the nation in free throws made, going 189-of-267 from the line this season (.708). The Patriots have shot 70.0 percent or better from the line in nine of their 14 games.
 
* Scott ranks 72nd nationally in points per game (17.4) – good for second in the Atlantic 10. She also ranks 66th nationally in field goals made (97) and 44th in minutes per game (35.5). In the A-10, she sits seventh in rebounding (7.4) and 10th in field goal percentage (.469).
 
* Wakefield ranks 15th in the A-10 in scoring (12.9) and 22nd in rebounding (5.5). She's fifth in the Atlantic 10 and 49th nationally in free throw percentage (.849).
 
* Adams has led the team in assists in 11-of-14 games this season. She currently averaging 3.8 assists per game – good for seventh in the A-10.
 
* Jameson sits eighth in the A-10 in FT percentage (.806), sinking 29-of-36 attempts.
 
SERIES HISTORY
One of Mason's most frequent opponents, Richmond holds a 40-25 lead in the all-time series. The Spiders are on a three-game winning streak vs. Mason, sweeping the season series in 2020-21. The two teams played in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) until Richmond left after the 2000-01 season.
 
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS (11-6, 2-2 A-10; 116 NET)
Richmond is on a two-game losing streak after suffering losses to Saint Joseph's, 74-54, and UMass, 73-72 (OT). The Spiders were picked to finish seventh in the A-10 preseason coaches' poll. 
 
The Spiders rank ninth in the nation in both blocked shots per game (6.2) and three-point field goals per game (9.6). Sophomore Addie Budnik ranks fourth nationally in blocked shots (51) and eighth in blocked shots per game (3.0). In the A-10, she ranks 13th in scoring (13.6) and 11th in rebounding (6.3). 
 
Grace Townsend ranks in the top-20 nationally in total assists with 90 – good for 5.3 assists per contest. Senior Kate Klimkiewicz sits 17th in the A-10 in scoring (12.6 ppg) and seventh in three-pointers made (30).
 
UP NEXT
Mason continues its three-game homestand with a Friday night showdown against La Salle. The contest was originally scheduled for Jan. 4, but was rescheduled due to COVID-19 protocols. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena.
