FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team will begin the away portion of its Atlantic 10 schedule with a pair of matches this weekend.
The Patriots will take on VCU at 6 p.m. on Friday, followed by Davidson at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Friday's match against VCU will be broadcast on ESPN+.
PATRIOT POINTS
- Mason went 0-2 to begin Atlantic 10 play last weekend, falling to Duquesne, 3-1, and Dayton, 3-0.
- Freshman Ewelina Gacek averaged 2.43 kills, 2.14 digs and 0.71 blocks per set in the two matches. She posted a career-best five service aces against Duquesne to go along with 10 kills and eight digs.
- Freshman Olyvia Kennedy put down seven kills on 14 swings (.286) against Duquesne.
- Seniors Katie Parmalee and Peyton Ehmke combined for 19 kills against the reigning A-10 champion Dayton.
- Gacek currently ranks first in the Atlantic 10 in service aces per set with 0.48. She has registered 23 aces in 48 sets played.
- Ehmke sits sixth in the league in hitting percentage with a clip of .285. In addition, she currently leads the team in kills per set (2.50).
- Mason is 37-25 all-time against VCU. The Rams have won six of the last seven meetings. Mason's lone victory during that stretch came on Nov. 3, 2018 when the Patriots swept the Rams.
- Davidson leads the all-time series, 6-4, and won the last meeting in four sets on Nov. 3, 2019. The two teams did not face off in the shortened 2020-21 spring season.
