FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team opens a three-match homestand against American on Tuesday, Sept. 28, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.
Last time out, Mason (1-6-1, 0-2-0 A-10) fell to No. 16 Saint Louis, 4-0, on Saturday at Hermann Stadium in St. Louis, Mo.Â
The Patriots have faced three ranked teams this season in their first eight matches.

When Mason faces American on Tuesday, it will be 47th all-time meeting between the two schools, tied for the most in program history against an opponent. The Patriots have also faced William & Mary 47 times.
In the last meeting between the two clubs, Mason defeated American, 2-1, on Aug. 30, 2019 in the season opener at George Mason Stadium. The Patriots outshot the Eagles, 11-8, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
American scored the first goal of the match in the 11th minute of play. Seven minutes later, midfielder Ryan Mingachos converted on a penalty kick for the equalizer. Forward Tunde Akinlosotu netted the eventual game-winner for the Patriots in the 32nd minute.

The eight-game Atlantic 10 schedule includes road contests against Saint Joseph's (Sept. 17,), Saint Louis (Sept. 25), Fordham (Oct. 9) and George Washington (Oct. 20). The Patriots will host St. Bonaventure (Oct. 6), VCU (Oct. 16), Davidson (Oct. 23) and La Salle (Oct. 30) in A-10 play.

SCOUTING AMERICAN
American has an overall record of 2-3-2, including a mark of 1-1-0 in Patriot League play. The Eagles are 2-1-1 at home and 0-2-1 on the road.
Last time out, the Eagles defeated Lehigh, 2-0, on Saturday at Reeves Athletic Complex in Washington, D.C.
Sophomore forward Robbie Matie scored his first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the 59th minute to put the Eagles in front.  Just 21 seconds later, graduate student forward Jerry Zouantcha netted his first career goal to make it a 2-0 game.
Freshman goalkeeper Dominic Dominguez made four saves to record the win in his first career start. He was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Senior forward David Coly leads the club in goals (3), assists (3), points (9) shots (13) and shots on goal (5). Sophomore midfielder Ethan Boyle and freshman forward Zemi Rodriguez are tied for second on the team in goals (1), assists (1) and points (3).
Eight different players have scored at least one goal for the Eagles through seven games.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lorenzo Gordon (1-3-2, 0-1-0 Patriot League, 1.71 GAA) has started six matches this season.
