FAIRFAX, Va. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Jackson Lee made a career-high eight saves, but the George Mason men's soccer team dropped its non-conference match against Wake Forest, 1-0, on Monday evening at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.
Mason (1-5-1, 0-1-0 A-10) and Wake Forest (4-2-0, 1-1-0 ACC) remained scoreless after the first half. The Demon Deacons recorded seven shots, while the Patriots did not register a shot in the first 45 minutes.
With both teams searching for the first goal, Wake Forest junior midfielder Jake Swallen scored the eventual game-winner late in the second half. He found the lower left corner of the net from just outside the 18, with sophomore midfielder Chase Oliver picking up the assist.
Lee (1-5-1) made a career-high eight saves in the match, while Wake Forest freshman goalkeeper Trace Alphin (3-1-0) made one save to post the victory. Lee's previous career-best was seven saves last season in Mason's 2-2 double-overtime draw at Davidson on March 14, 2021.

The Demon Deacons outshot the Patriots 18-3, including a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal. Wake Forest finished with six corner kicks, while Mason was held without a corner kick in the match.

For Wake Forest, Swallen and Oliver each finished the match with two shots on goal. Eight different players recorded a shot on goal for the Demon Deacons.
