FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team hosts Old Dominion on Tuesday evening, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.

The Patriots are back in action after a week without a match. Last time out, Mason (1-2-1) fell at James Madison, 2-0, on Sept. 7 at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Va.

Mason sophomore goalkeeper
Jackson Lee (1-2-1, 1.25 GAA) made two saves, while freshman forward
Ryan Mahon led all players with four shots and two shots on goal in the match against the Dukes.

The Patriots and Monarchs are set to renew a rivalry that dates back over 50 years. The two schools met for the first time in 1969.

Mason is 19-17-2 all-time against Old Dominion, the fifth-most victories against an opponent in program history. The Patriots have recorded the most wins in program history against George Washington (27), Richmond (25), UNC-Wilmington (22), American (21) and East Carolina (21).

The Patriots and Monarchs were scheduled to play on Feb. 20, 2021 at the ODU Soccer Complex, but the match was cancelled.

Mason and Old Dominion last met during the 2012 season. Â The Monarchs, who were ranked 14th in the nation at the time, built a 2-0 lead and defeated the Patriots, 3-2, on Sept. 28, 2012 at the ODU Soccer Complex in Norfolk, Va.

The eight-game Atlantic 10 schedule includes road contests against Saint Joseph's (Sept. 17), Saint Louis (Sept. 25), Fordham (Oct. 9) and George Washington (Oct. 20). The Patriots will host St. Bonaventure (Oct. 6), VCU (Oct. 16), Davidson (Oct. 23) and La Salle (Oct. 30) in A-10 play.

The Monarchs have an overall record of 1-2-0, including a mark of 1-0-0 at home and 0-2-0 on the road.

Last time out, Old Dominion fell at Campbell, 4-1, at the Eakes Soccer Complex in Buies Creek, N.C. The Camels scored a pair of goals in each half and built a 4-0 advantage. Campbell outshot Old Dominion 19-4 in the match, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
