FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team plays its final series of the season, hosting Richmond for four games beginning on Thursday, with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Spuhler Field.
 
The Patriots and Spiders will play a doubleheader on Friday, with the first pitch for game one scheduled for 1 p.m.  Both games will be seven innings.  The Patriots will recognize Bill Brown's 40th year as head coach between the games. 
 
The two teams will conclude the season on Saturday, with the first pitch slated for 2 p.m. 
 
Mason seniors Jackson Barrett, James Beasley, Thomas Bradley, Daniel Brooks, Austin Cabone, Scott Morgan and Cam Reckling, along with graduate students Jack DeLongchamps, Kyle Hayes, Jonathan Kaiser, Bailey Klein, Cooper Mrowka and Ryan Stoudemire will be recognized before the game.
 
Last time out, Mason (12-27, 5-15 A-10) downed Davidson, 10-4, on Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C.  The Patriots and Wildcats split the four-game series.  Sophomore infielder Brett Stallings hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning, his first home run as a Patriot, and drove in a season-high four runs in the game. 
 
Stallings is batting .352 (19-for-54) with two doubles, one home run, eight RBI and 10 runs scored in 18 games.  Sophomore infielder/outfielder South Trimble is hitting .318 (36-for-115) with nine doubles, one triple, one home run, 20 RBI and 25 runs scored in 31 games. 
 
Senior outfielder Cam Reckling has a .303 average (38-for-123) with seven doubles, two home runs, 19 RBI and 19 runs scored in 36 games.  Senior first baseman Scott Morgan is hitting .285 (37-for-130) with seven doubles, two triples, five home runs, 25 RBI and 19 runs scored in 38 games.
 
On the mound, junior Jared Lyons (5-2, 3.65, 66.2 IP) and graduate student Ryan Stoudemire (2-9, 7.74, 45.1 IP) are tied for the team lead with 11 starts each. 
 
In the Atlantic 10, Lyons ranks tied for third in wins (5), fourth in both strikeouts (71) and opponent batting average (.193), fifth in innings pitched (66.2) and 10th in ERA (3.65).
 
The Patriots are hitting .266 and have a team ERA of 6.82 through 39 games.
 
Mason has an all-time record of 38-61-1 against Richmond.  The two teams have played twice this season.  Mason defeated Richmond, 10-7, on March 5 at Spuhler Field in Fairfax, while the Spiders downed the Patriots, 12-5, on March 21 at Pitt Field in Richmond.  
 
SCOUTING RICHMOND
 
Richmond has an overall record of 17-15, including a mark of 3-9 in Atlantic 10 play.  The Spiders are 14-9 at home and 3-6 on the road.
 
Last time out, the Spiders dropped three-of-four games at George Washington, May 14-16 in Washington, D.C.
 
Richmond had its first two Atlantic 10 series of the season cancelled due to Covid-19 protocols.  The Spiders were scheduled to play at Saint Louis April 16-18 and host VCU April 23-25.
 
In their first A-10 series of the season, the Spiders split four games against Davidson at Pitt Field, April 30-May 2, in Richmond, Va.  The Spiders were swept at home in a four-game series by Dayton, May 7-9.
 
Freshman infielder Jared Sprague-Lott is batting .432 (32-for-74) with three doubles, two triples, three home runs, 29 RBI and 18 runs scored in 24 games.  Graduate student outfielder Wyatt Ulrich is hitting .375 (30-for-80) with six doubles, one triple, 14 RBI and 20 runs scored in 20 games.
 
Graduate student infielder Richie Ciufo has a .367 average (29-for-79) with eight doubles, one triple, one home run, 12 RBI and 17 runs scored in 27 games.  Junior catcher Drew Blakely is batting .360 (36-for-100) with eight doubles, one triple, 13 RBI and 18 runs scored in 28 games.
 
On the mound, sophomore Jacob Marcus (2-3, 4.79) and graduate student Colby Wyatt (3-2, 5.08) share the team lead with eight starts each.   
 
Richmond is hitting .247 and has a team ERA of 5.35 through 32 games this season.
