FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University women's basketball head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis has announced the signing of University of South Florida transfer Angelee Rodriguez to the 2021-22 roster.

"Angelee brings skill to the post position and fits an immediate need for our program," said Blair-Lewis. "We are thrilled to welcome her to Mason Nation. She has a dominating presence and a true center skill set. We are excited about her hunger to learn and her desire to improve."

Rodriguez, a 6-foot-2 center, comes to Mason with a plethora of international experience as a member of the Puerto Rico National Team.

She recently completed her freshman season at USF, where she appeared in seven games for the Green and Gold.

A native of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, she moved to Florida her freshman year of high school where she developed into a solid rebounder and shot blocker.

Rodriguez averaged 8.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game as a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale. She helped the Raiders to a 20-8 record, a No. 12 ranking among all FHSAA 6A schools and a regional semifinals appearance.

As a junior she netted 8.0 points per contest, while shooting 57 percent from the floor, and grabbed 7.5 rebounds per outing as St. Thomas Aquinas advanced to the FHSAA 8A state championship game.

Rodriguez has started on the Puerto Rico National Team since she was 16 years old. She played in the 2019 Centrobasket U-17 Women's Championships where she averaged 4.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

She posted nine points, six rebounds, two blocks vs. Guatemala in the first game of the group phase. She was 3-for-3 from the field and had eight rebounds and one block against the Dominican Republic in the semifinals. She helped Puerto Rico to a 4-1 record in the event, losing to Mexico, 61-56, in the championship.

Rodriguez joins Mason's incoming class that features Bethune-Cookman transfer Amaya Scott (Sunrise, Fla.) and Illinois transfer J-Naya Ephraim (St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands).
