Mason Travels to Richmond to Face the Spiders & VCU

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team (2-6-1, 2-3-1 A-10) travels down to Richmond for two contests this week to complete regular season play.
 
Mason will play at Richmond on Thursday (3 p.m. ET) inside President's Field and at VCU on Sunday (7 p.m. ET) inside Sport Backers Stadium. Both matches will be streamed via ESPN+.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots fell to rival George Washington by a score of 1-0 on Sunday.
 
Mason suffered their third conference loss of the season and split the season series with the Colonials. The Patriots have fallen to fourth in the A-10's south pod with a 2-3-1 conference record.
 
A LOOK AT RICHMOND (1-4-1 A-10)
The Spiders dropped their second straight game on Tuesday, falling to VCU by a score of 2-1. Richmond is now in fifth in the A-10's south pod with a 1-4-1 record.
 
Richmond has scored multiple goals just once this season which was their lone victory over George Washington on March 28.
 
The Spiders' attack is led by TJ Anderson, who has a team-high two goals on the season. In the net, Claire Hinkle has a save percentage of .750 with 15 saves in four games played (380 minutes).
 
The two programs met earlier in the season, finishing at a 1-1 draw (110 minutes) on March 18 inside George Mason Stadium.
 
Richmond hasn't beaten Mason since Oct. 19, 2013. The Patriots have taken the last two from the Spiders and have won three of the last five meetings between the two schools.
 
A LOOK AT VCU (6-4-1, 3-2 A-10)
VCU beat the Spiders by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday, improving their conference record to 3-2 on the year. The Rams are currently third in the A-10's south pod.
 
The Rams have outscored their opposition 19-11 this season with a .160 shooting percentage. VCU's attack has excelled in the final 45 minutes this season, posting 15 of their 19 goals in the second half of games in 2021.
 
VCU is led by Samantha Jerabek, who has 16 points on the season with a team lead in goals (7), shots (34) and shots on goal (17).
 
The Rams have had Brecht Haakma (3-2-1) and Grace Young (2-2) split time in the net.

WRAPPING UP THE SEASON
This road trip will be Mason's final two contests of the regular season as the Green & Gold look to make the Atlantic 10 conference tournament on April 15-17.
