FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team plays its first road series in Atlantic 10 Conference play this season, facing Dayton April 16-18 in Dayton, Ohio.
Game one of the series on Friday will be played at Day Air Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons, the single-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The final three games of the series will be played at Woerner Field on the campus of the University of Dayton.
Last time out, Mason (8-15, 1-3 A-10) dropped the final game of its series against Saint Louis, 4-2, last Sunday at Spuhler Field. The Billikens won three-of-four in the series.
Graduate student designated hitter
Cooper Mrowka hit his third home run of the season, while sophomore third baseman
South Trimble went 2-for-5 and drove in a run in the game. Mason senior starter
Austin Cabone allowed three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings of work.
Trimble is batting .382 (21-for-55) with four doubles, one triple, eight RBI and nine runs scored in 15 games. He is second on the club in hits (21), tied for second in doubles (4), and tied for fifth in RBI (8).

Bailey Klein has a .317 average (19-for-60) with four doubles, one triple, eight RBI and five runs scored in 17 games. He is fourth on the team in hits (19), tied for second in doubles (4), and tied for fifth in RBI (8).

Thomas Trinca is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with two doubles, three RBI and four runs scored in eight games.
Senior designated hitter/first baseman
Scott Morgan is hitting .302 (26-for-86) with four home runs, five doubles, two triples, 21 RBI and 13 runs scored in 23 games. He leads the club in hits (26), home runs (4), doubles (5), RBI (21), and total bases (47).
Freshman center fielder
Jordan Smith is batting .257 (18-for-70) with three doubles, two triples, 13 RBI and 14 runs scored. He leads the team in runs scored (14) and stolen bases (4), is third on the club in RBI (13), and fifth in hits (18).

SCOUTING DAYTON
Dayton has an overall record of 11-22, including a mark of 1-3 in A-10 play. The Flyers are 5-13 at home and 6-9 on the road.
The Flyers are second in the league in hits (279), home runs (37), RBI (173), total bases (449) and runs scored (195).
Last time out, the Flyers dropped three-of-four games on the road against Davidson at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C. The Wildcats won the first three games of the series (2-1, 10-8, 12-9).
Dayton scored 11 unanswered runs to salvage the final game with an 11-5 victory last Sunday. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Flyers.

STRIKE ZONE
The Patriots faced the Flyers in the opening game of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Tournament on May 21, 2014. Mason scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning to edge Dayton, 4-3, in St. Louis, Mo.
In the program's first season in the conference, Mason went on to win four games to claim the 2014 A-10 Conference Tournament. The Patriots also recorded wins over Saint Joseph's and two against VCU to advance to the Houston Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
