Patriots Drop Series Finale Against Saint Louis

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball team (14-8, 9-7 A-10) fell in the series finale against Saint Louis on Sunday.
 
The Patriots could not split the four-game series with the Billikens and fall to 9-7 in Atlantic 10 play.
 
Mason jumped out to an early one-run lead when junior EJ Bankson drove in sophomore Rachel Warrens with a hard-hit single in the bottom of the first inning.

The Patriots would record only two more hits in the final six innings.
 
Saint Louis answered right back with a run in the third, and consecutive two-run innings in the sixth and seventh.

Warrens went 2-for-3 on the day, improving her hitting streak to an impressive 11 games.
 
Freshman Carly Cooper made her third start for the Patriots, throwing 3.1 innings.
 
Senior Haellie Gordon came in relief for Mason and got the decision for Sunday. Her overall record is now 7-3 on the year.
 
UP NEXT
The Patriots will travel to face Dayton in a crucial four-game series on April 17-18.
