FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team fell in four sets to Fordham on Sunday afternoon inside the RAC.
The Patriots drop to 3-8 overall and 3-3 in the Atlantic 10 while the Rams move to 2-1 overall, 2-0 in the A-10.
With her 11th assist vs. Fordham, junior setter
Erin Derick became the 12th Patriot in program history to surpass 1,000 career assists. She finished with 40 assists in the game to go along with eight digs, three blocks and a kill.
Juniors
Katie Parmalee (14) and
Marlanna Bozicevich (13) combined for 27 kills to lead the Patriots' offense. Bozicevich, currently playing outside for the Patriots, set a career-high in kills and added 14 digs for her first career double-double.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Both teams tallied 12 kills in the opening frame, but Mason committed nine attacking errors compared to Fordham's three. The Rams took the first set, 25-16.
- Mason went on a 10-0 scoring run in the second frame with Parmalee behind the service line. The Patriots cruised to the set-win, 25-14, behind five kills from Parmalee.
- The third frame saw eight ties and four lead changes before Fordham secured the win, 25-22. The Rams used the momentum to claim the final set, 25-14, and match, 3-1.
- The Rams outblocked Mason 14 to eight. Junior Peyton Ehmke tallied a team-high six blocks to go along with nine kills.
- Bozicevich (14), freshman Grace Kristofic (12) and Stephanie Der (12) finished with double-digit digs. It marked a career-high for Kristofic.
- Mason finished with a hitting percentage of .105 while Fordham hit at a clip of .150.
